Awareness messages for women’s economic empowerment

The campaign for the economic empowerment of women within the framework of the EREA project, on Friday, extended its activity to the Municipality of Prizren, with the aim of contributing towards a fairer and more inclusive society.

Similar to other municipalities in Kosovo, awareness-raising messages have been displayed in Prizren that highlight the essential role of women in the development of society, but also the increase in their role in the agribusiness sector.

Shpresa Gosalci from EcoKosWomen (EKW) emphasized that supporting the economic empowerment of women in parallel with the advancement of gender equality, creates opportunities for them to express their potential, and at the same time ensures a safer and fairer future for all.

“Therefore, the messages that we are displaying through our silhouettes in Prizren are a call for immediate action, as women, wherever they are, deserve equal opportunities,” she told Telegrafi.

Meanwhile, the Director of Administration in the Municipality of Prizren, Edin Shehu, expressed the position that the municipal government supports every effort towards the economic empowerment of women, including the agribusiness sector.

“As the Director of Administration, together with my team, we are constantly committed to supporting and promoting initiatives related to improving the role of women in society and the economy. The latest project implemented by EKW in the field of agribusiness is a positive and welcome step for our community,” Shehu told Telegrafi.

He explained that in this context, models were also unveiled in the municipal administration building.

“Today, the Municipality of Prizren has placed symbolic models as a sign of our full support for this innovative project. These models not only serve as a concrete symbol of our commitment, but also express our determination to support the development and growth of the role of women in the agribusiness sector,” he said.

He further emphasized that the efforts to advance gender equality will continue.

“We believe that this close cooperation between the Municipality and such initiatives is essential for advancing gender equality and strengthening the local economy in Prizren. Our commitment will continue to be uninterrupted in supporting such innovative and important projects for the community”, said Shehu.

The campaign in question is being implemented in various municipalities of Kosovo, within the framework of the EREA project, which is supported by Swiss Caritas in Kosovo and financed by the Austrian Development Cooperation. This project aims to create a more just and inclusive society, challenging stereotypes and strengthening positive attitudes towards diversity.
